JAMMU: At a critical juncture when entire teaching fraternity in Jammu University observing pen down strike since last Thursday and refuses to relent until announcement of CBI probe into death of Prof. Chandra Shekhar, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai is on holiday after assigning charge to Prof. Naresh Padha.
“The varsity is hogging headlines in entire media for all the wrong reasons besides facing bashing from stakeholders as well as civil society and at this crucial time when varsity is at cross roads, the head of institution is nowhere in sight”, avers a senior Professor of Computer Science Department.
Taking serious view of shoddy developments on JU campus, Prof. S.K.Bhalla observed “The situation immediately warrants resignation of VC on moral grounds and all those whose names are doing the rounds must also be shown the door”. It is high time that LG Manoj Sinha personally take stock of grim situation so that some semblance of academic order is restored in JU, added Prof. Bhalla.
Most of the teaching members have expressed their well founded fears that attempts are there to fiddle with vital evidences linked to the alleged suicide by the associate professor Dr. Chandra Shekhar inside his office chamber in the campus on fateful Wednesday.
Sharing startling details officer bearer of JUTA told JK Global News “On Friday at about 1 PM when we went to meet VC on the issue of our fellow teacher death, we were astonished to see four teachers of varsity were engaged in deliberations with pack of 16 girl students besides two male inside conference hall in a clandestine manner. After sometime, VC himself went inside the conference hall and remained seated with these students who complained against the deceased teacher.” As per reliable sources, this entire meeting which lasted for nearly 2 hours smacks of an alleged attempt to dilute the ongoing investigation.
The SC/ST office bearers of JU who also witness hobnobbing with students by four teachers viz Neelu Rohmetra, Meena Sharma, Seema Sehgal and Veenu Koul inside the conference hall of VC have said that it is a terribly serious development with huge ramifications which needs to be brought to the notice of SIT.
Not only this, even there are reports that vigorous attempts to prevail upon the deceased Professor wife to change her stance to the convenience of top brass of JU and services of one lady teacher who is esteemed spouse of a student leader of yester years and known for his dubious tactics has been requisitioned.
The role of a small time mike laced media personnel who changes colors like chameleon is also under the scanner of civil society of Jammu. The JUTA in its strongest words has also condemned his modus operandi.
This lady teacher who once leveled allegations of sexual harassment against a senior and most suave professor of JU along with chameleon reporter of visual news portal are in regular contact with the wife of deceased teacher to change her stance before SIT. Reliable sources in JU alleged that the duo on behalf of some one in JU administration has assured a job of teacher in the JU in lieu of soft statement before SIT
