Delhi: Despite a huge setback in Phulpur and Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be campaigning for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka Assembly elections.
Yogi Adityanath today paid a surprise visit to the wheat purchase center in Sultanpur, and when questioned about the Karnataka Polls, he said, “I believe that BJP will win in Karnataka and Congress will never be able to fight again in elections.”
During his visit, the Chief Minister was, however, shown black flags by Samajwadi Party workers. They were later detained by the police.
As many as 35 public rallies, along with road shows, are being planned for the UP CM when he hits the campaign trail in Karnataka on May 3. Yogi will address 4-5 rallies a day across constituencies.
The campaign for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly is heating up with prominent leaders visiting the state and the political parties announcing their candidate lists for the polls. BJP is making an all-out effort to oust the Congress government from the state.
The BJP has declared its state unit chief B S Yeddyurappa and JDS H D Kumaraswamy as their chief ministerial faces. Both have been the state’s chief minister.
The Karnataka Assembly election will be held on May 12 and the counting of votes will be done on May 15.
A survey conducted by the Times Now-VMR has indicated a “photo-finish” in the Karnataka Assembly elections, with the BJP and the Congress neck-and-neck.
The Janata Dal (Secular) supremo HD Deve Gowda said that his party would not form a coalition government with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh accused the state government of adopting “the model of political violence” from Kerala, but assured people that BJP will end the violent targeting of political workers if it comes to power in the state.
