Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav on Friday conducted an extensive tour of Ward No. 61, covering Laxmi Vihar, Tomal Colony, Anand Nagar, Bohri and adjoining areas, to review ongoing development works, inspect civic infrastructure and take stock of public grievances.
During the visit, residents of Lane No. 4-A, Laxmi Vihar submitted a memorandum highlighting several long-pending civic issues, including inadequate and clogged drainage, damaged internal roads, persistent waterlogging during rains, irregular drinking water supply and recurring flooding caused by the overflow at the confluence of the Muthi/Udhawala Main Nallah and Om Nagar Nallah near the Tomal Colony Shamshan Ghat.
The Commissioner inspected the affected sites and reviewed the progress of drainage improvement works underway in the area. Stressing timely execution and quality workmanship, he directed the executing agencies to complete all ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe while ensuring strict adherence to prescribed quality standards.
Taking serious note of the issues flagged by residents, Dr. Yadav issued on-the-spot directions for immediate remedial action. He instructed officials to carry out regular desilting of drains, prepare a comprehensive plan to strengthen the drainage network, expedite the repair and reconstruction of damaged roads, and formulate a long-term strategy to effectively address the recurring flooding problem. He also called for close coordination among the concerned departments to ensure the early resolution of drinking water and electricity-related issues.
Interacting with the residents, the Commissioner assured them that all genuine grievances would be addressed on priority. Reaffirming JMC’s commitment to transparent, accountable and citizen-centric governance, he said the Corporation remains focused on upgrading civic infrastructure, improving public amenities and delivering efficient municipal services.
Senior officers of the Jammu Municipal Corporation accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection. Dr. Yadav directed all concerned officials to ensure prompt follow-up and time-bound implementation of the instructions issued during the visit.
