CHENNAI : Tamil Nadu’s Vijay-led government has stepped up its confrontation with the Centre over NEET, with the State Assembly passing a resolution demanding abolition of the medical entrance examination.
The resolution, moved by Health Minister K G Arunraj, seeks a return to a Class 12-based system for medical admissions, arguing that NEET undermines social justice and puts rural and disadvantaged students at a disadvantage.
The move received support across the political spectrum, including the DMK, AIADMK and Left parties, while the BJP’s lone MLA opposed the resolution and walked out of the House.
