ANKARA: The conflict in Yemen is rapidly becoming a wider regional confrontation, with Saudi Arabia intensifying its campaign against the Houthis and Türkiye and Pakistan agreeing to rapidly deploy forces to bolster Saudi security.
Yemen’s internationally recognised government has also reported battlefield gains against the Houthis, including the recapture of Mocha near the strategically important Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Meanwhile, Houthi forces have claimed attacks on Saudi targets, including airports and an Aramco facility.
The UN has warned of a sharp escalation, while the widening military involvement has heightened fears that the conflict could further destabilise the Red Sea and Gulf region.
