Jammu: There are allegations came flying thick and fast against Mehta clinic which the other day shot into notoriety for alleged negligence death of a 55 year old lady namely Parveen Kour prior to being operated by Dr Satish Mehta.
Located in Shalamar Road opposite SMGS Hospital, the clinic is being run from an old dilapidated building. “ Feeble health of the building which housed Mehta Clinic itself shows how fairly its owner namely Dr Satish Mehta has complied to the norms laid down for running of a clinic” said Gurmeet Singh, brother of the deceased woman.
“This is a clinic of loot” complained Zubeida who visited Dr Satish Mehta clinic a few months ago for diagnosis of low hearing problem. “He just checked few test through a machine and later said the problem exists since long thus have no solution. Later after charging Rs 3000/, he recommended CT scan from a newly opened clinic located opposite to GCW Gandhi Nagar, she added.
Dr Satish is known for fleecing gullible patients, added Gurmeet Singh. Merely for just a minor operation of Tonsil, he keep fleecing us through number of irrelevant tests and later he took the life of our sister, he rued.
The Government should ban such clinics that are operating in such ugly buildings by making mockery of laid down norms, said Tarlochan Singh Wazir.
Dr Satish is not only a greedy medico but also a murderer who is solely responsible for the death of 55 year old healthy woman. “We will not calm down until the police registered case against Dr Satish and others under section 302”, said Wazir.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased woman today held massive protest against police and the administration demanding registration of murder case (302) instead of 304 A. Keeping the dead body on the road, the angry protestors raised slogans against the police and Dr Satish. Blocking the NHW at Sanjay Nagar Morh, they were demanding closure of shady Mehta Clinic besides registration case against all the accused for murder.
On the assurance of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu, later the family members of the deceased woman lift the dead body from the road and agreed to proceed ahead for the cremation.
Yesterday, police has arrested all the alleged accused namely Dr Satish Gupta ENT specialist and owner of Mehta Clinic s/o Joginder Mohan R/o H.No 108 Marbel Enclave Trikuta Nagar, Dr Rajesh Mahajan s/o Dr Kasturi Lal r/o H.No 172 Garden Avenue Talab Tillo, Amandeep Singh s/o Paramjeet Singh r/o Ajeet Nagar Gadhi Garh, Satwari, Vipan Gill, Subash, Rohit and Atul. They were put in lock up at City Chowk Police Station and booked under sec 304 A in FIR No 37/18.
According to reliable sources, Dr Satish Mehta and Dr Rajesh are using their clout and links in higher ups to influence the police for fixing the negligence leading to death of woman on some lower rung employee of the clinic.
On being contacted, SP City Vinod Angral said “All accused have been arrested and an investigation is under progress. “ If during course of investigation we came across substantial evidences of murder instead of negligence then case under relevance section will be registered against whosoever high and mighty.
JKGN also tried to contact Health Minister Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal to know the government course of action against running of clinic from shabby buildings besides the open loot by greedy medicos on name of tests. But, he was not available owing to his hectic schedule.
