Jammu: To ensure cleanliness and sale of healthy mutton and poultry within the fixed price in view of ensuing Eid Ul Zuha, Pardeep Singh Manhas, Joint Commissioner Jammu Municipality Corporation along with team of officers today undertook extensive market checking drive.
The team visited the various Eidgahs falling in the JMC jurisdiction and interacted with the prominent citizens as well as the members of Masjid committees.
During the visit, Manhas instructed the officials for ensuring utmost cleanliness in the area on regular basis besides proper functioning of street lights in the area. The areas inspected during the tour includes Eidgah, Residency Road, Eidgah Pul Tawi, Eidgah Sidhara, Eidgah Malik Market, Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan, Jamia Masjid Gole Market-Gandhi Nagar, Haj House Railway Station, Gujjar Nagar, Jamia Masjid Police Line, Lakhdata Bazar and others.
While interacting with citizens of the visited areas, Manhas urged them for extending support in keeping their surrounding cleans for developing healthy habitats for living. He ensured all possible support to the them on account of festival of Eid.
On the occasion, Manhas also inspected various mutton shops in the city and seized 45 Kg of stale mutton which were kept inside the fridges and fined the defaulters for playing with public health by selling unfit for cinsumption meat.
Manhas while warning the shopkeepers to restrain from the practice of selling stale and unhealthy mutton has instructed the JMC Health Officer to ensure proper inspection of poultry stock and meat in every shop so as to curb the prevalent practice of selling unhealthy mutton in the market.
Those accompanied Manhas in the tour includes Dr Saleem-Health Officer, Talat Mahmood-Chief Transport Officer and others.
