School Shame: St Peter’s BC Road teachers taunt weak student
Arfat Khan
Jammu: All is not well in St Peter’s High School, BC Road where students are under distress for allegedly being taunt and bullied by none other than teachers.
If sources are to believed some teachers are shaming students in classrooms for being failed and retained in the same class.”
It’s worth to mention that few days ago a differently abled woman was forced to stand outside this school premises for two hours under scorching sun heat.
Unable to walk owing to polio affected by both legs, the beleaguered woman only requesting for a movement along with autorickshaw inside the premises.
But, on the direction of Principal Joseph, the shabby looking gatekeeper not only stopped but also threatened her. Later, with the help of police she managed to walk inside.
It hurts us to see our teacher namely Kashia Bhatti advising students in class to refrain from interacting with a girl who was detained in class 7th A as she couldn’t make it to next class after final examination” said one of the female student who didn’t wish to be indentified fearing harassment.
Similar account was shared by a woman who was sitting in the waiting room to meet principal. ” I was shocked when I saw a teacher bullying a student by repeatedly branding him as failure”
Later, I identified this teacher in question as Kashia Bhatti with the help of school magazine ‘Patanjali’
This is a new low in the school as earlier the students of primary standard used to be allegdely beaten by school principal who also forced them to stand outside his office for entire day, she complained. Such behaviour never expected from a teacher, she added.
Not only this, even some teacher discourage us and tored off the notebook page when we tried to write answers in a more lucid and simple way.
“Referring to a teacher namely Gharo who teaches Social science to 7th class, a student preferring anonymity said ” She tore off my note book pages simply because it didn’t match the notes tutored by her”
Upset over this estrange development going on under the patronage of school principal Joseph, one parent a week ago shifted her two children and got admitted in another school.
There is nothing like missionary in St Peter’s High school. Now, it’s more looks like a cage where the management and some teachers are acting like jailors, added another aggrieved parent.
Devoid of compassion and empathy even the Principal talks illogically when apprised of such developments which are unbecoming of a teacher, complained another aggrieved parent.
From emails to phone, JKGN made several attempts to contact Principal Joseph to know his view point on allegations which came flying thick and fast against him as well as school management but he remained indifferent to our best efforts.
