Jammu: Awarding enforcement inspector Ramesh Wazir with charge of prominent wards which are considered as most emerging residential and commercial hub has raised eyebrows about the tall claims of Housing and Urban Development Department officers in curbing organised corruption in Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Sources in JMC disclosed ” The commissioner Avny Lavasa has been kept in dark about Ramesh Wazir who was attached 7 months ago following large scale allegations of corruption against him by several councillors in the 6th General House Meeting”.
As per order No JMC/Estt/11274-80 dated 3/3/2020 Commissioner Lavasa while revoking attachment of Ramesh Wazir along with other has assigned charge of ward number 74(Channi Rama, Bhathindi), 68 (Greater Kailash), 69-70 ( Sainik Colony) to controversial Khilafwarzi inspector Wazir.
The Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and then Commissioner Pankaj Magotra were left red faced when councillor Pawan Singh along with other councillors had openly accused the duo in the GHM for shielding enforcement inspector Ramesh Wazir.
Rumors are also doing the rounds that Mayor has influenced the JMC officers in revoking attachment of Ramesh Wazir and subsequent posting in prominent commercial hub of Jammu” alleged insiders.
It’s worth to mention here that large scale unauthorized commercial structures were raised in Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Satwari areas during Wazir’s era.
Wazir have habbit of visiting under construction sites mostly at night in inebriated condition in contravention to JMC’s law, alleged sources.
As per JMC rules book no enforcement officer or official can visit under construction site before dawn and after dusk, sources added
Attachment and enquiry are only an eye wash to protect corrupt officials in JMC, said insiders.
Revoking attachment without any punishment for abbeting large scale illegal constructions and then again crowned the tainted official with sensitive wards only strengthen the nexus of corruption in JMC, added sources.
Who dare to punish Wazir when he brags of close proximity with Bau Ji ( Mayor sahib, satirically said JMC insider.
Efforts to know official reaction of JMC Commissioner Avny couldn’t materialized due to unavoidable circumstances.
