JAMMU: Failure of police and district administration to act against the open sale of Chinese thread commonly known as Gattu has led to the loss of a precious life  on road in Qasim Nagar, New Bahu Fort Colony.

In the unfortunate incident, the deceased identified as Sikander Ali Khan son of late Nissar Khan of Rajiv Nagar throat got slit when he come in the grip of lethal Chinese thread while driving scooter on the road.

With blood gushing from throat, he was shifted to the GMCH where he was declared as brought dead by the doctor.

Now, a precious life has gone who was a bread earners for his family but the question arise whose is responsible for this gross negligence which caused death of a young man on road for none of his mistake .

Is the district Magistrate Jammu and higher ups from Police care to shoulder the burden of this death due to gross negligence, questioned the relatives of the deceased.

It’s shameful for the entire administration and police that despite ban on sale of Chinese thread Gattu it’s commonly on sale in every big and small shops in nook and corner of the lanes and bylanes of Qasim Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Bahu Fort where the deceased lost his life.

The state administration should made accountable the SHO of Bagh e Bahu police station in whose jurisdiction this unfortunate death had took place due to the failure of police to act against the open sale of banned Chinese thread in the vicinity of concerned police station.

The concerned SHO can be seen over busy in issuing challans for buttressing state coffers but not a single drive was launched by the concerned police officer to discourage the sale of banned Chinese thread, alleged locals of the area.

In the same breath, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha should also enquire as to what necessary action was taken by the district administration and police on record to ensure strict implementation of ban on sale of lethal Chinese thread in the city before this shocking incident.

The LG should also sought report from the state administration pertaining to the number of vendors booked by the police before Rakshabandhan this year, asserted Rajinder Gupta.

This will expose the laxity of both the police as well as district administration in acting against the lethal chinese thread which is nothing less then a dangerous weapon available on sale counter under the garb of manja, added Rajinder.

In the forthcoming festival of Janamashtmi, making mockery of police and district administration this Chinese thread Gattu can be seen openly kept for sale at counters in almost every shops with impunity in the city.
