    HC bans tution by Govt teachers in coaching centres

    JAMMU: Justice Sanjeev Kumar of Jammu and Kashmir High Court in a landmark judgement has banned the prevailing practice of government teachers from imparting tution at home and private coaching centres which are mushrooming everywhere in the state.

    Stating that government teachers of school education department these days are paid hefty salary and hence there is no pressing need for them to join private tutorials. Expressing disatification over the poor examination results of the government schools, the Court said that it’s disgusting to see that despite availability of best qualified teachers and hefty spending on their training programs, yet, the results of government schools in majority is not upto the mark.

    While banning the government teachers from imparting education in private tutorials, the court further directed the government to create and make available toll free number in every districts as well as website or grievances cell where citizens can lodged complaints against the banned practice for redressal of their grievances.
