Institution of Police in Jammu region is fast becoming easy launching pad for handful of deceitful elements that ambitiously set to pursue their political ambitions under the garb of symbolic acts of “social activism”. There is no denying the fact that endless good Samaritans are doing yeomen service in ameliorating the sufferings of destitute in society but in recent past, individuals with shoddy past and incompatible conducts suddenly hijacked a field which, so far only remains domains of God fearing citizens having no inclination towards pomp and show.
In fact, the Jammu region is blessed to have citizens with uncompromising principles and unblemished image, which helped the society with their selfless contribution in awakening the citizens towards consumer rights, education, women empowerment, child abuse and drug addiction etc. Sadly, in the recent past, a gang of guys like popcorn suddenly appears on the canvas of social service and projected themselves as gigantic Messiah of downtrodden and create hullaboloo of their hollow tirade against menace of drug addiction in J&K and add disgrace to several senior police officers by addressing them as Bhaiiji in social media.
Surprisingly, their acts of charity though remain invisible on grounds but dominantly occupy considerable space in social media. Astutely, the credit for this task goes to mindless gang of 24×7 mike carrying idiot reporters whose only source of income is to wiggle tails for glorification of their masters. The language used by these self styled crusaders in pre fixed interviews on social media news channels is self attestation of their caliber and substance.
Recent, nonsense campaign by one such blackmailer against educational institutions and officers of state administration is self explanatory. Similarly, shameful acts of one PSOs escorted child activist, another one claiming to be a staunch women activist (visible only in women police stations) and least but not last-the animal activist, here needs no special illumination as they are famous enough for their misdeeds.
The modus operandi adopted by these Samaj Sevaks though look simple but have long term ramifications and apparently is a part of well planned exercise. They keep flying from one district to other districts merely to “garland and felicitate” police officers and indulges in photo session while rubbing shoulders with them. Later, they upload these photos on regular basis in social media to project their close proximity with higher-ups in police department to flaunt influence over gullible citizens.
This entire exercise in broader spectrum is understood to be vicious cycle of exploiting a law enforcement agency by resorting to gimmicks merely to keep intact their shops of blackmailing and exert influence on juniors in police department by claiming their close association with top Police officers. The question also arise as to what prompts the senior police officers in J&K to accommodate these handful of bogus Samaj Sevaks who are either land grabbers, blackmailers or negotiators in land and domestic disputes. The mind blowing question is that why these social activist crusaders have penchant for rubbing shoulders only with police officers especially the young IPS officers. Not so long ago, a group of social activists had felicitated one Joint Commissioner with sacred Gita and shawl in a office. Strangely, after a couple of months these so called samaj sevaks start pressurising the said officer for a illegitimate work and when failed in their tactics they start maligning the upright officer with bogus complainants in Governor grievances cell. This is not a single such incidence. The list is endless and more interesting is the dubious working of another social activist who claims to be head of one Anti Corruption Body.
The officers in state administration especially police need to decode hidden agenda of newly born samaj sevaks who have a full time target of felicitating police officers at public functions for works which every public servants supposed to perform on daily basis and gets due recognition on special occasion like Independence and Republic Day. Public offices are meant for citizens but the police officers must refrain from becoming instrument of exploitation in the hands of these budding local netas or over ambitious public figures claiming themselves as social activists. If it’s, not part of a mutually accepted social laddering both ways for widening mutual social acceptance, then Chief Secretary, Mr. Arun Mehta and DGP, Mr. Dilbagh Singh promptly sensitize all officers especially Police in administration of Union Territory of J&K about All India Services (Conduct) Rules 1968 and Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964 so as to end this show of circus which have eroded the sanctity of chair in several government office.
