JAMMU: Realising the sale of Chinese thread commonly known as Gattu in the market despite banned imposed by the district administration, the Janipur police station team led by its SHO Inspector Nayar Ali raided series of shops and seized 259 rolls of banned ‘Manja’ in two different drives carried under the supervision of SDPO West Rahul Nagar.
So far two drives were carried against the sale of banned synthetic thread ‘Gattu’ in aread falling under the jurisdiction of Janipur Police Station, said the spokesperson. The police team recovered 259 tolls and arrested three shopkeepers involved in sale of Chinese kite flying thread in violation of District Magistrate, Jammu order.
The arrested shopkeepers includes Suraj Kumar S/o Harbans Lal R/o Near Edu Board Sarwal, Rohit S/o Lt. Ashok kumar R/o H.no. 105 Shivalikapurm and Sanjay Sharma S/o Des Raj
R/o 115 Shivalikapurm Janipur. All the arrested accuseds were bookes u/s 188 IPC for indulging in sale of banned Chinese Manja in violation of DM order.
The police have appealed the citizens and shopkeepers to refrain from sale, purchase and stocking of deadly Chinese Manja for kite flying as it apart from being fatal to the human beings, birds and animals is causing serious loss to the electricity infrastructure. The police warned that those found in possesion of banned Chinese thread will be arrested and prosecuted.
