JAMMU: The district administration Jammu has initiated exercise under section 18 of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act (PITA) 1956 for sealing premises located in Bahu Fort area which was used as brothel by history sheeter Swarna Devi for a decade with impunity in residential colony.
Notice bearing number No 988/ARMS/DMJ/2023 dated 19/05/2023 was pasted on H.No 196, Qasim Nagar, Bahu Fort area which was used as a brothel by POCSO accused Swarna Devi w/o Ashok Sharma. Prior to sealing and eviction, the administration has given seven days to accused woman to respond to notice before formally sealing the building as per the law of the land.
Pertinent to mentioned here that JK Global News has carried a relentless campaign to uproot Swarna and her gang of criminals who were actively engaged in human trafficking as well as sale of heroine in a residential area by mocking the presence of law enforcement agencies.
The Bagh e Bahu police station team led by the then SHO, Inspector Surinder Rains on March 8, 2023 raided the brothel of Swarna and recovered a minor girl who was kept as slave and subjected to coerced prostitution. During one month illegal confinement, the rescued minor girl after drugging with heroine used to produce before sex beasts at brothel as well as in a MC Dollar Hotel located in Gujjar Nagar and owned by one retired police personnel.

Initially, the Bagh e Bahu police station in FIR No 32 dated 08/03/2023, booked accused Swarna alongwith four accomplice u/s 366 A, 344, POCSO Act. However, later during investigation by incumbent SHO Inspector Arti Thakur under the guidance of SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafri, the police additionally incorporated section 3.4.5.7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act in the FIR.
Residents of Qasim Nagar have appreciated the initiative of police and civil administration to set in motion the process for sealing brothel of Swarna which was not only used for human trafficking but also become hot spot of drug addiction and distribution in a residential colony.
