Kathua: The Motor Vehicle Department Kathua today organised an Awareness cum felicitation programme to mark the culmination of 29th National Road Safety Week.
Acknowledging the support extended by different stakeholders, Motor Vehicle Department under the aegis of RTO Kathua, Pardeep Singh Manhas felicitated participating schools and Bus unions for their awareness activities during the week-long event.
Speaking on the occasion Manhas hailed the administration of participating Schools, Bus Union, Mini Bus and Truck Unions for coming forward and actively participating in the awareness activities organised by RTO office across the district. He said this year target was to create maximum awareness among schools and commercial drivers as per this year theme of ‘Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha’. He said involving all stakeholders was aimed to inculcate among them the spirit of adhering to traffic rules.
An impressive Nukkad Natak presented by Sargam Group was key attraction on last day of the Road Safety Week . An Educative Session on traffic rules and road safety by MVD Inspectors was also held during the programme where a large number of locals were present. Pamphlets were also distributed among the participants.
Meanwhile, the MVD team along with school students gave counselling to the drivers on National Highway. Chocolates were also distributed among drivers found adhering to traffic rules.
Heads of participating schools namely Government Mode school Chack Rijju, Learning Temple School, Sacred Heart School, Tiny Scholars School besides Govt. Higher Secondary Schools (Girls and Boys) were given trophies and certificate of participation for holding activities like Painting competition, debates, rallies etc during the week.
DTI Traffic Kathua and Information department were also felicitated for their contribution in organising host of awareness activities at different locations.
The weeklong activities also included Bike Rally, painting, debate competitions, health checkups for School Buse Drivers and Conductors etc .
ARTO Kathua Indu Jamwal presented vote of thanks and appreciated the participants for extending all possible help for the success of weeklong activities on road safety.
