Poonch :As a part of State wide Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat Day’ has been observed in all the CD blocks of the district , here today.
DDC , Mohammad Aijaz Asad initiated Swachh Bharat day by launching Swachhta Express from Bus stand Poonch with an aim to create mass awareness within the district. The Swachhta express will manoeuvre in the 11 blocks of the district spreading the message of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
Present on the occasion were ADC ,Dr.Bashrat Hussain, ASP Anwarul Haq, ACD Mukhtar Sheikh, DPO Mukhlis Quraishi, CMO Dr.Mumtaz Bhatti besides officials from rural development , municipal council Poonch and Surankote Municipality.
It is pertinent to mention that block Sathra has recently been declared as ODF, and DDC further set the targets for others blocks to be declared ODF in near future. It was further informed that rural development department is making concerted efforts to achieve 100% coverage .
Swachta awareness programmes have been organised in 189 panchayats and field functionaries including village level worker, (VLWs)Gram Rozagar Sewaks (GRSs) are to remain stationed in their respective Panchayats for carrying Swachta activities.
The day witnessed activities like pit digging and cleaning of Panchayat Ghars, community centers, community toilets , water bodies , ration depots at villages Kussalian, Qasba, Salotri, Sawijian, Shahpur and several Panchayats in Balakote.
Anganwadi centers besides district hospital, three sub district hospital,17PHCs, 27 N.T.PHC and 102 sub centers, bus stands, lanes ,drains were also cleaned up during the day.
The day also witnessed several awareness programmes on the role of SBM in maintaining clean environment and good hygiene.
To raise awareness regarding ‘Swachhta various competitions were also held in schools and local tree saplings have been planted to make surroundings neat and clean.
