JAMMU : There is no denying the fact that sale of narcotics and criminal activities are growing at alarming proportion in Jammu city which indicates that outlaw persons are hiding safely as unverified tenants in areas considered to be hotspot of drugs distribution and crime.
But, if any news agency dare to report this sorry state of affairs prevailing in the society without caring for cosmetic appraisal then the irked cops can go to extent of adopting threatening posture out of fool paradise to desist a professional journalist from performing his duties without fear and favor.
This exactly happened today when JK Global News asked SHO Bagh e Bahu Police station about action against against the owner for keeping some druggists as tenants in a premises at Qasim Nagar bypassing mandatory police verification besides connection of these druggists with burning of a building which was sealed by District administration for housing prostitution.
If reliable sources are to believe, scores of drug peddlers, criminals, brothel operator and anti social elements are staying as tenant in Bahu Fort area, Bhathindi and Rajeev Nagar for smooth operation of their unlawful activities. The tenant verification has taken a nose dive especially in Qasim Nagar, added our reliable sources in Police.
The residents of Qasim Nagar complained that due to laxity on part of concerned Bagh e Bahu Police station menace of druggists returns to the locality after one year as most of these anti social element has secured accomodation in the area as tenants without verification.
“Bad elements were confined to their rat holes due to regular patrolling during the tenure of Inspector Surinder Raina as well as Inspector Arti Thakur. But, these good policing now seems to be disappeared with change of guards in Bagh e Bahu Police station, opined a resident of the locality confiding anonymity.
Pointing to a yesterday incident in the locality where on the complaint of a meaningful resident, the police manage to nab druggists during a raid in the premises of one Surjit Singh alias Bitta, the residents inform, “The building in locality is notorious for housing anti social elements. The owner of building is infamous for renting premises only to anti social elements without requisite police verification”.
It is astonishing to see the police never act against the owner of building namely Bitta. This premises has become a den for druggists and criminals and threat to peace and security in the locality, rue residents. Why till date police failed to act against building for repeatedly keeping tenants without verification, angrily said locals of the area.
In the same premises, last month also a notorious criminal namely Vicky Pretta alongwith some druggists had created a law and order problem. Later, the cops acts but reportedly no action taken against owner of premises for keeping tenants without verification.
Interestingly, when Editor JK Global News Arfat Khan, who also resides in the same locality contact the SHO Bagh e Bahu Police station, Inspector Vijay Kumar Verma to ascertain the action taken pertaining to yesterday inferno and role of druggist residing in Surjit Singh premises, he replied the matter is under investigation.
However when further reason as to why reportedly no action taken against the owner of premises for keeping tenants sans police verification, SHO lost his temper and while threatening said, “Tuàmnei Ghandh Daal Rakha hei. Aur tum Hou kon yeh Saab mujei poochnei walei.
Interestingly, today hour after JK Global News asked uncomfortable queries to SHO Bagh e Bahu Police station, the lady who alongwith 4-5 anti social elements was residing as unverified tenants in the premises of Surjit Singh alias Bitta hurriedly left the den of sin with bag and baggage.
Worthwhile to mention here that DIG Jammu-Kathua Shiv Kumar Sharma was personally apprised about the presence of anti social elements in a premises at Qasim Nagar without tenant verification on 3rd January through 4 minutes telephonic conversation after the concerned SHO refuses to act
