Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday caught and arrested Rahul Gandotra, a Junior Engineer posted as Technical Assistant in the BDO Office Gulabgarh, Mahore (Reasi), while accepting a bribe of ₹8,000 for clearing an official bill.
In a serious revelation, three corruption cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act are already registered against the arrested JE at ACB Udhampur, all of which are under investigation.
The arrest followed a complaint alleging that the JE demanded illegal gratification for processing a payment related to RDD works. After discreet verification confirmed the demand, ACB Udhampur registered an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act and laid a trap.
The accused was caught red-handed in the presence of independent witnesses, and the bribe money was recovered on the spot. Subsequently, ACB conducted a search at the accused’s residence in Jammu in the presence of a Magistrate.
