The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested Head Constable Muhammad Ilyas of Police Station Thanamandi for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe.
The action followed a complaint by Abdul Hamid of Reasi, who alleged the accused cop demanded money to release his vehicle involved in an accident near Shahdra Sharif. The complainant claimed he had already paid ₹5,000 earlier but was being pressured for an additional ₹10,000, with threats of delaying the case.
Acting on the complaint, ACB laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
