In a strong message against drug-related offences, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Mohita Sharma, IPS, has dismissed Selection Grade Constable Aftab Ahmed (Belt No. 498/K) from service following his alleged involvement in a case under the NDPS Act.
The action follows a departmental inquiry linked to FIR No. 55/2026 registered at Police Station Billawar under Sections 8, 21, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act. According to police, the constable was apprehended during a naka checking operation, during which heroin was allegedly recovered from his possession.
He was placed under suspension on April 8, 2026, and a departmental inquiry was conducted by the SP Operations, Upper Kathua. Acting under Rule 335 of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules, the SSP ordered his dismissal, reiterating the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and stressing the need to uphold discipline and integrity within the police force.
