Kolkata: A Durga Puja celebration turned into a scene of horror in north Kolkata after a stampede-like situation at the Chorbagan Sarbojanin pandal claimed at least 19 lives and injured several others on Saturday evening.
The tragedy unfolded amid heavy rain and a massive crowd gathered near the pandal’s exit. Narrow access points and confusion over crowd movement have emerged as possible factors, though the exact sequence is under investigation.
