SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has intervened in the alleged abuse of a woman JKAS officer by senior IAS officer Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, writing to Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo to ensure that the officer faces “no retribution.”
In a post on X, Omar has taken serious note of the matter said that prima facie the conduct of the senior officer was not in keeping with standards expected of a senior IAS officer and stressed that “accountability must prevail.” He also made it clear that no one should misuse their position to intimidate or victimise others.

The intervention follows a purported video of an October 14 Mission YUVA review meeting in which Ranjan is allegedly heard using derogatory language against JKAS officer Beenish Wani. The video has triggered widespread criticism and demands for an impartial inquiry.
Interestingly, the Labour and Employment Department has, however, questioned the authenticity and context of the circulating clips.
