New Delhi: The wait for 64 Pakistani Hindu migrants to get Indian citizenship has become an ordeal of sorts as since last 18 days the district administration is still waiting for the report of Intelligence Bureau and the Long Term Visa (LTV) related details, which are mandatory for giving citizenship to them.
About 18 days ago, the district administration had set up the camp for granting citizenship to these people. All the preparations were made and people had also come for getting the citizenship. However, the IB report and other details were not received.
Along with these people, the officials of district administration also waited for the report till 6pm but in vain.
After this, the officials took the details of the people who had come and assured them that as soon as the report will be recievd another camp will be held for this purpose. The officials says that the Pakistani Hindu migrants can be given the citizenship without holding camp but intelligence report is must.
A few days ago, department of home had convened a meeting to discuss the issue of granting citizenship to Pakistani Hindu migrants.
Recently chief minister Vasundhara Raje had requested the union home minister Rajnath Singh to simplify the process of giving citizenship to the displaced Hindus from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
She had met Singh on Thursday and during the meeting she said that applications of several displaced people are pending in various districts of the state.
Notably, ministry of home has given right of giving citizenship to these displaced people to district magistrates of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
