Jammu: The arrest of official ranked lowest in the hierarchy of state vigilance organization is just a tip of an iceberg pertaining to the alleged underhand deals going on smoothly between the masters of corruption serving in various government departments and some musketeers entrusted with the job of prevention of corruption in the state.

Recently, SVO, Jammu led by a team of senior officers raided the house and business establishment at Gujjar Nagar and Qasim Nagar Jammu respectively allegedly belongs to one Mohammad Shabir, who is working as an orderly in SVO, Jammu.

He was booked for possessing assets which were allegedly raised by leaking sensitive information to those officers/officials who are facing enquiries for corruption in SVO.

Highly placed sources in SVO revealed that Shabir who was appointed in the police only a couple of years ago has raised a vast building construction material shop in a plot measuring 40×80 feet besides a posh house measuring 40×80 feet at Qasim Nagar. In addition, to this he also have raised similar such properties at Gujjar Nagar in Jammu as well as in Bhatindi area. Stating that the said official have close proximity with several senior police officers for the reasons best known to him, the sources said, he owned several plots as benami properties in Sunjawan and Chowadhi area. Currently, his total networth would be around 3 crore, sources revealed.

Indeed, alone peon cannot dare to leak such important information to those who are facing corruption enquiries in SVO. There must be a nexus prevailing behind all this corrupt practices going on inside organization, said sources.

Sources attributed this corrupt practice by black-sheep of SVO owing to prolong investigation into various FIRs stand registered against the government employees for various cases of corruption and misuse of official position.

Ironically, majority of the FIRs registered by the State Vigilance Organization during the past three and half years are still under investigation and due to this, involved officers and officials have remained unpunished.

According to official figures, the premier agency fighting the colossal task of corruption in militancy infested state from January 1, 2015 onward has registered 139 FIRs in Jammu province whereas as 137 FIRs were lodged in the Kashmir province. As far as Jammu province is concerned, 43 FIRs were registered in 2015, 31 in 2016, 46 in 2017 and 19 in 2018. In Kashmir province 55 FIRs were registered in 2015, 23 in 2016, 33 in 2017 and 26 in 2018. Ironically, the status of majority of these 276 FIRs are still ‘under investigation’

Though at this stage we cannot blame anyone but indeed there are a few officers/officials who are under our constant surveillance. As and when, we chance upon concrete evidences they will be nab ignoring their rank and medals, added SVO sources.

If sources are to believed, there are hefty deals going on between black sheep of SVO and officers /officials who are facing corruption complaints in the state anti corruption body. The officers/officials of RDD, PDD, PHE, FCS&CA are their most favorite to strike deals. The modus operandi is very simple, they leak inputs against whom the SVO received clandestine complaints of corruption. Then, they approach these officials to settle a deal at some deserted places as per their convenience.

It’s worthwhile to mention here that in past also the SVO has booked some of its senior officials when the later in lieu of alleged deal tried to destroyed crucial evidences against some senior bureaucrats who are facing serious corruption charges.

JKGN tried to contact SJM. Gillani, Director SVO as well as SSP (sv0)  but none of them available for their viewpoints on the recent raids at the residence and bussiness locations belongs to an orderly posted in state vigilance organization, Jammu.
