JAMMU: The followers of ‘Take Chand Policy’ (bribe) suffered a jolt in Jammu Municipal Corporation as the Commissioner, Avny Lavasa has junked a transfer proposal involving list of nearly 20 employees of health and sanitation wing.
Reliable sources in JMC reveal “Proposal of 13 supervisors and 7 sanitary Inspectors was submitted to Commissioner for consideration and approval which was turned down as it was prepared without taking into consideration concerned sanitation officers”.
It’s a welcome step and transfer proposals which are under clout over allegations of corruption need to be junked, he added
It’s learnt that couple of officials commonly known as Tridev of sanitation wing and bragging close proximity with Health Officer are striking deal between Rs 50 K to Rs 1 lac for posting of employees in prosperous wards.
The commissioner needs to ordered probe into all transfers made in the past six months in sanitation wing, demanded one sanitation officer.
Terming decision of Commissioner to turned down transfer proposal as a timely and wise step, one sanitation officer on condition of anonymity said “For the past several months, the frequent transfers of supervisors and inspectors on shady grounds have become a money minting job for those running transfer rackets in JMC”.
In past, every Health Officer used to take into consideration the concerned sanitation officers of respective zones before submitting the transfer proposal to higher ups through proper channel. But, this fool proof process has been overlooked by the incumbent Health Officer for reasons best known to her, avers an official of establishment section.
Rumors doing the rounds that an official who was recently promoted and generally seen sitting all the time in HO section is allegedly running the transfer industry in collision with Bunty-Bubbli and coterie of tridev.
The proposed list was also recommended by Chairman, Health and sanitation wing of JMC, Narinder Singh Jamwal.
There is severe resentment prevailing among almost all sanitation officers for frequent transfers of supervisors/inspectors without taking them into consideration which is mainly responsible for prevalence of poor sanitation condition in old city wards.
When contacted, Dr. Sanjogita Soodan, Health Officer, JMC said “The transfer of sanitation employees from one ward to another is always affected as per laid down norms and cautioned employees of sanitation wing from being trapped into net of middlemen for securing transfer in desirable wards”.
