LONDON: In Wimbledon Tennis, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has advanced into the third round of Men’s Singles. Third-seeded Spaniard defeated Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 in London yesterday. In the next round, Alcaraz will face America’s Frances Tiafoe tomorrow.
In Women’s Singles, Japan’s Naomi Osaka made an early exit from the championship after losing to America’s Emma Navarro 6-4, 6-1. Osaka was playing her first Wimbledon since 2019. Well, 17th ranked Emma Navarro will now face Russia’s Diana Shnaider in the third round on Friday.
In Mixed Doubles, Andy Murray has teamed up with Emma Raducanu. The all-British mixed doubles pair was granted a wild card yesterday. It comes after Murray pulled out his name from singles due to fitness. They will face Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and his partner Chinese Zhang Shuai in the second round tomorrow.
