JAMMU : The investigation into the alleged rape and subsequent death of a minor girl from Chatroo in Kishtwar has been handed over to the Crime Branch, amid mounting public demands for a fair and comprehensive probe. The teenager allegedly suffered repeated sexual abuse by her school teacher and died on August 20 following complications during an attempted pregnancy termination. Six persons have so far been arrested in the case.
Meanwhile, apprehension is being voiced among some citizens over what they describe as the alleged “misadventure” of a self-styled child activist, with concerns that unnecessary intervention or attempts to influence the grieving family could potentially divert attention from the investigation and confuse the deceased girl’s parents. Citizens have urged all individuals claiming to support the victim to refrain from interfering with the family and allow the Crime Branch to establish the facts independently and fix responsibility strictly on the basis of evidence.
