New Delhi: The Congress-led INDIA bloc’s rally against the removal of Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday drew mammoth gathering of participants.
Led by Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders, the gathering demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The opposition accused the Election Commission of facilitating wrongful deletion of voters’ names, allegations rejected by the BJP and the poll body. The mobilisation marked another major confrontation between the opposition and the ruling establishment over electoral integrity.
