Poonch: To hear and redress public grievances in far flung areas, District Administration Poonch held a grievance redressal camp at Mandi today.
District Development Commissioner Poonch, Mohammad Aijaz Asad held the public darbar which saw participation of the people in large number. Executive Engineers of PDD, irrigation and PWD, Chief Medical Officer, District Agricultural Officer, Tehsildar Mandi, BMO, Chief education officer, Assistant Director Planning, RDD and Panchyati Raj, prominent citizens besides local public attended the grievance redressal camp.
Local residents raised problems pertaining to PMGSY and R&B Roads, Education department, inadequate staff in health department, shortage of kerosene oil and many more alike. They vociferously put forth several demands including improvements of roads condition, check on absenteeism in schools, up gradation of some schools, improve facilities in PHC’s and restoration of damaged roads.
The local populace during the darbar appreciated DC Poonch for gearing up the administrative machinery. Some of the speakers said there has been a marked improvement in punctuality and regularity in government offices since last two weeks.
While addressing the public on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officers of the district administration to address the issues at grass root level and assert themselves in resolving local issues of public importance. He particularly impressed upon them to show keen interest in ensuring quality of developmental works in rural pockets and in the areas near LOCs.
DDC also threw light on Tourism potential in the Mandi area and said that government is developing infrastructure to promote tourism in the area which in turn will generate employment for the youth.
During the public hearing, Chief Minister’s commitments pertaining to Mandi were also highlighted. DDC assured the public that commitments of Chief Minister are top priority and decisions made during public darbar of CM shall be implemented on fast track basis for development of the district.
After public darbar, DDC visited the newly constructed building of SDH Mandi and issued on spot directions to R&B to hand over the building to Health department within next 10 days after imparting the final touch to the building. He also asked Chief Medical officer Poonch to make preparations for shifting in the new building. He said that the new facility will provide much needed relief to the people of Mandi Tehsil.
