This is sequel to yesterday’s massive exposure made by JK Global News regarding newly encouraged attachment culture in Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department (HED). The beneficiaries of this administrative convenience are those who either are entrenched in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar for decades together or having their proximity in the corridors of power. This unhealthy practice has resulted in concentration of experienced faculty members in the cities to the detriment of students studying in the newly established GDCs in far flung areas where there is extreme dearth of permanent staff both in teaching as well as non teaching.
The latest addition to this practice is G.O number 429-JK(HE) of 2024 dated 16/8/2024. The facsimile of the same is reproduced herewith which is self explanatory. This is for the first time that a new convention has been established involving members of teaching faculty in the day today officialdom in the Directorate of Director Colleges whereas the fact is that the Director Colleges domain is restricted to only non teaching staff.
There are reports that a dozen of seasoned folk of teaching faculty drawn from different GDCs have been deputed to Cluster University of Jammu as Coordinators whereas as per reliable sources they have bade goodbye to teaching assignments which is their primary duty. Majority of these influential coordinators are enjoying their deputation to CLUJ on account of their connectivity where it matters. Shortly their names will be in the public domain for the larger public good. In the same manner, a couple of teachers have also been deputed at NEP cell which is camped at GCW, Parade and burning midnight oil to realize in their own way dreams of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It is another matter that is under wraps as to what is going on there. The people have a right to know as to what exactly is transpiring there at. Will someone educate us ? .
It is high time that our esteemed LG Shri Manoj Sinha who is an alumnus of prestigious BHU takes cognizance of the contents of this write up to put a full stop on the culture of attachments, deputation and deployment of a chunk of influential lot of teachers. Academics is heading towards a decline in peripheral colleges especially newly opened as majority of teachers prefer to remain snuggled in cozy city colleges as well cluster varsities of Srinagar and Jammu. Rationalization of teaching as well as supporting staff is the only panacea to materialize the mission and vision of our PM.
