The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday arrested West Bengal, Industries and Commerce minister Partha Chatterjee in connection with teacher recruitment scam case. He was arrested after overnight interrogation by the ED officials at the residence of the minister which begins in the morning on Friday.
The agency has recovered Rs 20 crore from the residence of one of Chatterjee’s close aide Arpita Mukherjee in south Kolkata, who has also been detained.
Pertinently, the central agency is probing alleged recruitment irregularities in the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) and West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE). Chatterjee was the education minister of West Bengal when the scam took place.
