Banihal:  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today came down heavily on the Congress party for its dubious politics and described it as ‘mother of almost all the ills’ in Jammu and Kashmir.

The PDP said that Jammu and Kashmir had been paying a heavy price for the dirty politics played by the Congress party over the years.

“Congress leaders speak one language in Delhi and a different tone in Kashmir. They change their language when they speak in Jammu. They are no better than chameleons,” senior PDP leader and MLC, Mr Firdous Ahmed Tak, said while addressing the party workers in Banihal area of Ramban district.

The PDP leader held the Congress responsible for weakening the democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir. “This party has always played a dubious role that has caused an irreparable loss to the state. The increasing trust deficit among the people over democratic institutions and state government is the result of dirty politics played by the Congress party over the years,” Tak said.

The MLC said the Congress was primarily responsible for eroding and weakening the constitutional provisions and special status granted to the state. “Congress in league with National Conference trampled the unique identity of the state and did systematic erosion of J&K’s special status and diluted all Constitutional provisions to enjoy the powers,” senior PDP leader said, adding “Congress has been the mother of almost all problems confronting J&K in present time”.

Speaking on the occasion, Bashir Ahmed Runyal, district president of PDP highlighted several measures initiated by the present dispensation and said that special emphasis was being laid in addressing the development deficit of rural and far off areas.

He said that the government was laying focous on improvement of road connectivity, communication, health and education infrastructure in the rural and backward areas.

Runyal said that both Congress and National Conference of two sides of same coin. “Today they are trying to project themselves as sympathisers of Kashmir but when in power they have done everything to force the people of state to wall”, he said.

He said that the present Chief Minister and president of PDP Ms. Mehbooba Mufti is leading from the front to ensure development and prosperity in the state. “PDP has not ever compromised with its agenda for sticking in power”, he said.

Earlier, the party workers gave a rousing reception to senior party leaders and raised several issues concerning local population. Tak assured the party workers that all steps would be taken to meet the demands made by the people.
