Jammu: Many residents in Gandhi Nagar feels that there is no need of seeking necessary permission and adhering to Jammu Master Plan 2032 for raising any new construction as the young corporator allegedly assured the owners of every possible immunity against the undesirable action of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Sources in JMC revealed that on receiving several complaints regarding sudden escalation in number of unauthorised constructions in Gandhinagar, the team of concerned JMC officials visited the area and came across startling revealitions.
During the demolition drive carried on June 12 wherever the team arrived for demolition, the house owner flaunt influence of local corporator namely Bhanu Mahajan as they allegedly claimed that the unauthorised construction was only started after getting an assurance from concerned corporator Bhanu Mahajan.
However, the team went ahead and demolsided several constructions underway at 5 AB Gandhinagar, Near Apsara Theatre, 256 A Gandhinagar behind Apsara complex, 90 Shastri Nagar, One illegal shop shutter near shastri Nagar creamation ground.
On ground when JKGN team visited several construction sites in Gandhi Nagar one of the owner who was constructing his first floor behind Laxmi Narayan Mandir while raising his objection over the photo shoot of his construction said” We have no necessary permission to carry this work but it was started only after getting full assurance from Bhanu Mahajan and her father Tilak Raj Gupta.
In a similar way an unauthorised shop is being opened near DhudhaDhari Temple whose owner too using name of Bhanu Mahajan while influencing concerned enforcement team.
It’s worth to mentioned here that there are allegations flying thick and fast against several corporators for patronising unauthorised constructions in their respective areas. Same phenomenon is prevailing in Gujjar Nagar, Janipur, Roopnagar, Bantalab and Bakshi Nagar area.
The prime job of elected corporators should be to check these illegal constructions and contribute towards revenue generation of corporation by promoting approved constructions, said JMC insiders.
However, there are many corporators who are flexing muscles to protect illegal constructions in their area, added JMC sources.
Interacting telephonically, Bhanu Mahajan, corporator Gandhinagar refuted all allegations but prefer silence when her attention was brought towards some specific constructions going on in her area.
