Rajouri: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Gani Kohli today said that the Government is fully aware of the problems of the people, and is taking various initiatives in this regard to mitigating them.
The Minister expressed these views after inaugurating a bore well at Kallar and laying the foundation stone of filtration plant at Agrati, Kalakote in Rajouri.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the present Government is fully aware of the problems of the people. He said several initiatives have been taken to improve the living standard of the people.
The Minister said every possible effort is being made to provide better basic amenities including adequate safe drinking water facilities to the people of the State, especially living in rural and far-flung areas. He further said that there is a dire need to tap groundwater facilities to fulfil the drinking water requirement of the people where water resources are not available.
The Minister was informed that the inaugurated bore well is drilled by PHE Ground Water Division at an estimated cost of Rs 24 lakh and will benefit as many as 600 souls of the local populace. Likewise, the filtration plant of water supply scheme Agrati will be constructed at an estimated cost Rs. 1.67 cr under centrally sponsored scheme NRDWP. The plant will have the capacity of 10000 gallons per hour and will benefit over 1500 souls of the area.
The Minister directed the concerned executive agency to complete the work in a time bound manner so that the people are provided drinking water without facing inconvenience. He said PHE department has already been instructed to conduct a survey of the Constituency and identify the habitations that have not been provided drinking water facilities so far.
The Minister stressed for using the water judiciously. He said sufficient funds have been earmarked under PHE sector for the development and upgradation of PHE infrastructure in Kalakote constituency for the current fiscal.
He directed the employees to work with extra zeal and dedication to maintain the essential services to the people.
The people of the area thanked the Minister for the initiative and for fulfilling the long pending public demand.
