JAMMU: Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against BJP leader and former MLC Vikram Randhawa for hurting religious sentiments of particular community.

The case FIR No. 357 of 2021 has been registered at Trikuta Nagar Police Station. The Sections invoked against Randhawa include 295-A and 505 (2) Indian Penal Code. A video of Randhawa has gone viral on Social Media in which he was seen trading objectionable remarks against women as well as muslim community on the basis of which Police have booked him.

Meanwhile, taking serious view, the BJP state unit in a communique has relieved Vikram Randhawa from all party positions and responsibilities pending disciplinary proceedings against him.

Pertinently, Vikram Randhawa on Nov 1 in a viral video has used unparliamentary remarks against muslim women as muslim community with an alleged intention to create communal tension and disrupting peace on the region. The irresponsible stance of Randhawa draws wide range of condemnation and criticism from different sections of civil society as well as political organisations demanding action against him.
