BENGALURU: The Karnataka CID has arrested IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar in connection with the alleged Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment scam involving the selection of veterinary officers.
Gangwar, a 2016-batch IAS officer who earlier served as KPSC Controller of Examinations, was taken into custody after being questioned for two consecutive days. Investigators are probing alleged manipulation of OMR answer sheets and other irregularities in the recruitment process for 400 veterinary posts.
The officer was subsequently produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody, with the investigation expected to widen further. The Enforcement Directorate had earlier searched his premises in Bengaluru and Bareilly as part of a related money-laundering probe.
The arrest marks a major development in the scandal and raises fresh questions over the integrity of recruitment examinations conducted by the state’s premier recruitment body.
