Kathua: Admitting a bigger game plan involving influential arms licence racketeers and some insiders, the District Magistrate Kathua have ordered an enquiry into the issuance of controversial arms licence by ADM Kathua.
Confirming this development, O.P.Bhagat DDC Kathua in a telephonic conversation with JKGN said” Indeed it’s a serious matter which need indepth investigation to unearth the racket involved in this arms licences issuance scandal”
Its worth to mentioned here that JKGN has published a story wherein a racket is actively procuring arms licences with extended jurisdiction on country made gun licences issued by Tehsildar of Mahore in grave violation of 2016 Arms Act.
In this particular case a racket involving some lower rung officials of DC office Kathua, arms dealer and gun licence dalals has managed to procure a gun licence of S/DBBL with extended jurisdiction vide licence No DMK/JC/68/Dt 10/09/2019 issued by ADM Kathua Devinder Pal.
The licence in question was issued in favour of one Sajjad Ahmad s/o Abdul Rashid R/o Bharansal of Tehsil Mahore on the Licence No 21 /JC / dated 3//1/2018 issued by Tehsildar Mahore for purchase of SBML country made gun in utter violation of Arms Act 2016.
As per the Arms Act 2016 a tehsildar is not competent to issue a licence even for country made gun.
Besides, what was the exigency under which ADM Kathua change the licence to DBBL besides extending it’s jurisdiction to J&K without verifying it’s authencity.
Interestingly, the controversial desi gun licence from Tehsil Mahore travel to Kathua for change of its jurisdiction as well as weapon upgradation and then finally the gun was purchased the very next date of licence issuance from one arms dealer located in Residency Road in district Jammu.
