Jammu: While the Director Health Services Dr Gurjeet Singh still in deep slumber, the officials of drugs and food control organization with utter displeasure wake up and sealed a quack shop at Qasim Nagar where a self styled doctor was fleecing poor people with impunity for past several years in a ‘clinic’.
Acting on the news item which was carried by JKGN, the team of DFCO raided the ‘clinic’ namely Public Health Medico of a fake doctor namely Pawan Kumar and seized medicines for quality test. Interestingly, after the raid the unregistered medical laboratory which was running adjoining this quack clinic also shutdown fearing action.
Sharing details about the raid Dr Iqbal Palla Deputy Controller requested JKGN to carry positive news item about this raid which he claimed to be a ‘timely action’ against the shady ‘clinic’ which has been operating in the area since 2009.
Grapevine; however is that the concerned supervisor namely Amit Mahajan of DFCO under whose jurisdiction this shady clinic of quack was flourishing by leaps and bound when asked about the details of raid he said “the owner is a RMP (Registered Medical Practitioner)”. But, the officer failed to remember that fake medico is neither listed in notified list of RMP in state nor a person of 40 years age is eligible to be notified as RMP in state. In these circumstances, how Pawan Kumar became RMP can be explained well only by Drugs inspector Amit Mahajan.
On being contacted, Dr Lootika Khajuria said that we have lifted the samples of medicines being sold at the raided shop. Rest, it’s the domain of Director Health Services to check the operation of unregistered laboratories and clinics run by fake doctors. “We have initiated the action against the said person as per law and strict action will be taken if the samples of medicines failed in tests”
Dr Gurjeet Singh when asked about update on fake doctor clinic and shady laboratory said “I am driving the car”. It’s strange, if the health of the poor citizens who are being cheated by fake doctors in Jammu is not a resonable concern for concerned officials then what justice they are doing with the chair ?
