India has crossed a significant milestone by surpassing 300 GW of installed non-fossil fuel-based power capacity, marking another major step in its clean energy transition. The achievement includes power generated from renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydro and biomass, along with nuclear energy.
The milestone reflects the country’s expanding focus on reducing dependence on fossil fuels and strengthening its renewable energy base. With rapid growth in solar and wind installations, India is steadily moving towards its climate and clean-energy commitments. The government has set an ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
