JAMMU: Irked over campaign launched by our news portal in bringing to light the difficulties faced by general public due to opening of illegal commercial complexes in violation of BOCA norms by converting residential buildings into shops along roadside, one resident of Gandhi Nagar has threatened to eliminate us.
The caller who identified himself as Vijay Gupta first invite the editor for a cup of tea at his place 3 A/B Gandhi Nagar. When I humbly refused and questioned his motives for repeated invitation for a cup of tea, the former offer to bribe us with money to remain silent on an upcoming commercial complex which he covertly prepared by converting his entire front portion of residence into halls from ground to top floor.
The owner of 3 A/B Gandhi Nagar located opposite Auqaf Market as per residence of Gandhi Nagar in violation of land use has allegedly converted his entire residence into commercial halls.
To materialize his plans, the owner even put blue polythene sheets to cover the illegal construction, complained one of the resident of Gandhi Nagar, preferring anonymity.
Large number of residents who are residing around this upcoming illegal commercial complex told JK Global News that already there is huge congestion on the road due to opening of five big shops which carved out from first portion of this residential complex in violation of land use.
There is frequent traffic jams and chaos due to opening of one after another shops in this residential structure in violation of BOCA norms.
The residents complained that if the second portion would also turn into commercial complex then there will be a deep mess in this otherwise residential area.
There is deep nexus between the owner of this building and JMC officials else how this complex escape sealing for violating land use norms.
Meanwhile, acting on the complaint reliable sources disclosed that Jt Commissioner (A) has taken cognisance of this upcoming illegal shopping complex and ordered removal of concealing sheets besides sealing. The action has been widely appreciated by the residents of the area.
