The initiative, being pursued under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai through the Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB), aims to provide working women, homemakers and other aspiring learners an opportunity to acquire higher education alongside their personal and professional responsibilities.
The NCWEB reflects the University’s effort to take higher education beyond conventional classrooms and connect academic opportunities with women’s professional and economic empowerment-Prof. Umesh Rai, VC Jammu University
Divulging details in an interaction with media, Prof. Rai asserted that key feature of NCWEB will be weekend and public-holiday classes, with the proposed academic offerings including a B.Com programme under NEP 2020 and certificate courses in Accountancy, GST, Tally and Income Tax. A GST workshop is also planned to strengthen practical and professional skills.
To shape the initiative around actual requirements, Prof. Rai interacted with representatives of women’s organisations, NGOs and civil society, inviting their suggestions on expanding educational access and employment-oriented training.
