The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Friday got a newly elected management body after months of uncertainty over the election process. The results were declared after the Supreme Court stay on the announcement of poll outcome was vacated following withdrawal of a related petition.
Javid Ahmed Kitab was elected as President of JKCA, while Desh Rattan Dubey secured the post of Vice-President. Vivek Khajuria was elected Secretary, whereas Wajahat Majeed and Rajan Singh were elected Joint Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Anil Kumar Koul and Rakesh Koul were elected members of the Apex Council.
The election process had remained under a cloud after certain objections and legal challenges were raised regarding the conduct of polls and electoral rolls.
With the legal hurdle cleared, the long-pending results were finally made public by Electoral Officer A.K. Joti.
The declaration of results is being seen as a significant development for cricket administration in Jammu and Kashmir after a prolonged period of uncertainty.
