Udhampur:  Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy & Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that Jammu & Kashmir is receiving maximum patronage under the Modi Government, which it had, in the past, never received from any other government at the Centre.

During a visit to the remote, far-flung, hilly village Panjar, which falls in district Udhampur but is a part of Reasi Assembly segment, Dr Jitendra Singh was addressing an impressive public gathering drawn from the surrounding hill terrains. He said, his visit to Panjar was happening at a time when from 14th April to 5th May, a country-wide “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan” was going on, under which 20,000 villages across the country are sought to be covered in 20 days for achieving maximum targets in seven priority programmes of the Modi Government and Panjar was one of such 19 villages which had been identified in district Udhampur.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, this is possibly the first such mega mass campaign in recent years, aimed at focused upliftment of rural India. The entire credit for this, he said, goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who conceived this idea and is also regularly monitoring it. Not only this, the Prime Minister himself visited a district in Chhattisgarh on the first day of the campaign, i.e., 14th April and again visited another place in Madhya Pradesh on 24th April, he added.

On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh distributed the first lot of over a dozen free gas connections to the villagers under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. He also congratulated the local people for the approval of a Degree College in Mogri and said, this will open new vistas of higher education for the entire cluster of villages in this belt.

MoS Ajay Nanda appreciated the hard-work and keen interest shown by Dr Jitendra Singh in the far-flung areas of his parliamentary constituency. He said, the development seen under the Modi Government was never witnessed before and wished that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should continue to lead the nation for many more years to come.

Earlier, Udhampur District Development Commissioner Ravindra Kumar presented a broad resume of the priority programmes of Government of India which are being aggressively followed up during the twenty days of “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan”. These included Ujjwala, Ujala, Jan-Dhan, Saubhagya, Suraksha Bima, Jeewan Jyoti Bima, Indradhanush, etc
