    JMC acts against illegal structures, encroachments

    Jammu:  In a major drive against unauthorized constructions and steep rise in encroachments on roads, the Jammu Municipal Corporation today demolished several illegal structures and seized rehries and articles.

    The drive was undertaken under the    directions of Pankaj Magotra, Commissioner, JMC and the Enforcement Staff led by the Chief Enforcement Officer under overall supervision of Pardeep Singh, Joint Commissioner (A).

    The enforcement team  demolished the shuttering of ongoing illegal construction work at Last morh Gandhi Nagar area.

    The said constructions had been raised unauthorizedly and in violation of the building plan. The Jammu Municipal Corporation initiated the action under the provisions of J&K Control of Building Operation Act 1998.

    Furthe, Sunaina Sharma, Secretary JMC  supervised anti encroachment drive which was conducted in below Gumat, Indra Chowk, Bus Stand, Jewel and residency Road.

    The articles which were placed outside the shops and establishment of the shopkeepers were removed, 5 illegal rehries were lifted from Bus stand areas which was creating traffic hazards. Shopkeepers were instructed not to display articles outside the shutters lines. Number of footpaths was also cleared at below Gumat and Indra chowk.

    In an appeal t the general public, the JMC administration has advised general public to refrain from making illegal constructions and get building plans whether commercial / residential approved from JMC to avoid action as admissible under rules.  Shopkeeper are also warned to keep their material inside the shutter line to avoid confiscation of  articles as anti encroachment measure.
