With the monsoon increasing the risk of Dengue and Chikungunya, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav has appealed to citizens to eliminate stagnant water from coolers, flower pots, tyres, buckets and other containers to prevent mosquito breeding.

He stressed that public awareness and community participation are vital for controlling vector-borne diseases and urged residents to support JMC’s anti-mosquito campaign by maintaining clean surroundings and reporting waterlogging.

Highlighting JMC’s environmental initiatives, Dr. Yadav said over 50,000 saplings are being planted across the city under the ‘Clean Jammu, Green Jammu’ campaign. He added that the Corporation has also rejuvenated 14 water bodies, developing them into community spaces with improved amenities.

The Commissioner appealed to Resident Welfare Associations, educational institutions and social organisations to adopt these restored water bodies for their upkeep.

Citizens can also report ponds requiring restoration through JMC’s toll-free helpline 1800-180-7207 or at swachh.jk.gov.in.
