Bengaluru:Shortly after BS Yeddyurappa resigned as CM after failing to get the required number to win trust vote in Karnataka, Congress President Rahul Gandhi addressed the press. In a brief statement Rahul said, ” The BJP legislators chose to get up and leave the assembly before the national anthem.” Rahul Gandhi said that in a way this is what they are fighting today. Congress President alleged that BJP and RSS is trying to trample upon every institution just because they are in power. Rahul Gandhi said that they(BJP) are being shown in India power is not everything, money is not everything, people’s voice is everything. Congress President said that BJP should understand that will of the people, institutions of the country can’t be disrespected. Rahul Gandhi said that PM directly authorised efforts to buy MLAs of Congress and JD(S). Congress President said that what PM projects as efforts of fighting corruption is a sham and in reality horse trading process was kickstarted in Karnataka by direct signals from New Delhi. He says,” PM Modi is corruption for encouraging bribery”.

Rahul Gandhi also said that Karnataka has given message that opposition will stop BJP on its track in the country. He says PM is not bigger than the institutions of the country, which Narendra Modi needs to be understand. Rahul says that people of Karnataka has given this stern message to Congress. Rahul Gandhi further said that Prime Minister’s model of leadership is not of democracy, but of dictatorship.

The 3-day old B S Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka collapsed today, with the chief minister announcing his decision to resign without facing a trust vote. The Supreme Court had yesterday ordered a floor test in the Karnataka Assembly at 4 PM today, drastically slashing the 15-day window given by Governor Vajubhai Vala to BJP Chief Minister Yeddyurappa to prove his majority.

“I am going to resign as chief minister….I will go to Raj Bhavan and submit my resignation. “I will not face confidence vote….I am going to resign,” he told the Assembly after a brief emotional speech. Yeddyurappa said he would now “go to the people”.

His resignation will pave the way for formation of a government led by JD(S) state chief H D Kumaraswamy, who has the backing of the Congress. The newly formed alliance has claimed support of 117 MLAs in the 224-member House with an effective strength of 221. Polling for two seats was not held due to various reasons, while Kumaraswamy won from two places.
