NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Er. Gulam Ali Khatana has accused the Congress-led INDI Alliance of politicising sensitive national issues and creating unnecessary confusion, alleging that its approach was undermining national unity and public confidence in democratic institutions.
Khatana said that instead of acting as a constructive opposition, Congress and its allies were using issues such as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to pursue narrow political interests. He maintained that electoral reforms were essential for ensuring transparent and credible elections, while the CAA aimed to provide relief to persecuted minority communities from neighbouring countries.
Alleging that the opposition was misleading people through misinformation and politically motivated narratives, Khatana said disagreement was a democratic right, but political parties must exercise it responsibly and within the constitutional framework.
“Congress has lost its political direction and is increasingly acting in ways that serve forces opposed to India’s interests,” he said, accusing the INDI Alliance of making opposition to the government its primary political agenda.
He urged people, particularly the youth, to remain alert against misinformation and attempts to create divisions on religious and regional lines, asserting that national unity, sovereignty and development must remain above partisan politics.
Reaffirming his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Khatana said India would continue its journey towards progress, good governance and inclusive growth despite attempts by vested interests to derail it.
