Srinagar:  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary, Mansoor Hussain Soharwardhy today expressed deep concern over the massive  damage caused to the residential houses and orchards in Kashmir valley due to Windstorm and untimely rainfall in the region.

In a statement issued here, Mansoor said that the losses faced by the orchardists in Kashmir are massive and that the south Kashmir region including the Shangus constituency remained worst effected  area wherein the damage caused to the residential houses are hundreds in number.

He added that the fruit growers have been bearing the brunt of untimely rainfalls and windstorm in Kashmir valley since past several years and that the recent heavy downpour and windstorms have only dashed the hopes of the profitable harvest for the orchardists.

He maintained that the South Kashmir in general and Shangus constituency in particular have become the worst sufferers of nature’s recent fury.

Mansoor said the areas wherein heavy damage to the private property has been witnessed in Shangus constituency are  Devipora, Hardtooru, Sansooma, Uttrsoo, Wangam, Shangus, Andoo, Ranipora, CS Pora, Achabal, Issus, Tenvun and several others.

Asking the government to take immediate measures for the mitigation of the losses suffered by the people, Mansoor also appealed the Chief Minister Mehboba Mufti to direct the local administration so that the damages caused by the windstorm to residential houses and orchards could be assessed and financial assistance to the effected people could be provided at an earliest.
