    More IMPACT: Police starts crackdown against ‘Manja’ traders

    JAMMU: For the first time, the police has initiated a comprehensive and commendable strategy to seriously check and book those indulge in sale of banned killer ‘Manja’ (Chinese kite flying thread) in violation of District Magistrate, Jammu order.

    Sensing the gravity of menace caused by ‘Manja’, the SP South Deepak Digra constituted teams of SHOs which carried series of crackdown in different areas of Jammu falling under the jurisdiction of SP South, Jammu

    However, yet, nothing is visible on ground against the influential traders of Manja in old city of Jammu which fells under the jurisdiction of SP North, Jammu and considered as hub of sale and stocking for banned ‘Manja’.

    The areas including Pir Mitha, Jhullakha Mohalla, Talab Khatikan, Rehari Mohalla, Sarwal, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazar and Parade are notorious for sale and stocking of killer Manja which needs appropriate surgical strikes.

    Pertinently, the JK Global News on July 3 has carried a detailed news story highlighting rampant sale of killer Manja in violation of government order and it’s fatal consequences on people, childrens, animals and birds. Reacting to the news item, the district administration swung into action and imposed ban on it’s sale and ensuring action against the violators.

    Following the DM order, the SP South Deepak Digra constituted teams of SHOs which carried series of crackdown in different areas of Jammu falling under the jurisdiction of SP South, Jammu

    Consequently, the police teams acting tough against the sale of banned synthetic threads(manja) lodges 6 FIRs and recovered 85 rolls from the six arrested traders.

    The drive against the sale of banned Manja was carried by special police teams of PS Satwari, PS Bagh e Bahu, PP Nehru Market and PP Chatha led by SHO PS Satwari Inspector Deepak Jasrotia, SHO PS Bagh e Bahu Inspector Kirti Sharma, I/C PP Nehru Market, SI Rohit Gandhi and I/C PP Chatha Inspector. Rakesh Roshan.All the arrested accused were booked u/s 188 IPC got registered at PS Satwari and different cases FIRs got registered in various police stations.

    The arrested accused includesAnkit Kumar S/o Satyapal Singh R/o Muzzaffar Nagar UP A/P Ajeet Nagar, arrested by PS Satwari, Surinder Kumar S/O Barita Ram R/O Gorkha Nagar Jammu, arrested by PS Bagh e Bahu, Raj Kumar S/O Pyara Lal R/O Bazigir Basti Bahu Fort Jammu, arrested by PS Bagh e Bahu, Ankush Sharma S/O Roop Lal Sharma R/O Gorkha Nagar Jammu, arrested by PS Bagh e Bahu, Happy Kumar S/O Jaswinder lal R/O Phinder,R S Pura, arrested by PP Nehru Market and Dhiraj Kumar S/O Sardari Lal  R/O Shiv Mohalla Ward No 05 Hakkal Chatha, arrested by PP Chatha. The overall arrest and recoveries were made under the direction of SP South Deepak Digra and under the supervision of SDPO City South PK Mengi.
