JAMMU: Calling for a media policy that goes beyond a formal government framework, Press Club of Jammu President Sanjeev Pargal has urged the J&K administration to address the financial insecurity, lack of institutional support and unresolved professional issues confronting journalists.

Demanding involvement of elected representatives of the journalist fraternity in drafting the policy, Pargal called for a comprehensive welfare mechanism providing social and financial security, citing the Himachal Pradesh model, and demanded equal recognition for print, electronic and digital media.
